Chalant is reader-supported. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, which means that when you click through and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is the same — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.

Who we partner with

We participate in affiliate programs operated by retailers and manufacturers in the mechanical keyboard space, including but not limited to Amazon and KBDfans. As required, we make the following formal disclosure:

How we choose what to recommend

We recommend keyboards and components based on what we think actually performs well for the kind of person we’re writing for. A product’s commission rate doesn’t change whether it makes a guide. Plenty of products we recommend pay us nothing, and plenty of products with generous commissions are nowhere on the site.

When two genuinely comparable products exist, we’ll often link to the one that’s easier to buy and return — that usually happens to be Amazon, which is also the partner with the smallest commission. We mention this so you know the bias goes toward your convenience, not our payout.

How to spot affiliate links

Outbound links to retailers in our product cards, guides, and recommendation pages are generally affiliate links. Plain links inside running text (for example, references to a manufacturer’s homepage) are usually not. If you ever want to skip the affiliate link, you can search the product name on the retailer’s site directly.

In line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255 (“Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”), we want to be clear that we may receive compensation when you purchase through links on this site. Our editorial recommendations are independent and reflect our honest opinion of the products discussed.
